There are many different styles of anime and manga, from relatively realistic to highly stylized. Likewise, I thought it made sense to open my character in Photoshop on the iPad to create a background and then edit my character there. I decided to draw the character in Fresco because it is a drawing and painting app. Since I like to draw in Fresco and I like to create and edit in Photoshop on the iPad, it seemed only natural to use both for my creation. I generally paint traditional or digital watercolors, but this time I created a manga-like character from a portrait using vector brushes. To exercise my artistic muscles, I like to take a break from the norm and create art in different ways.

People who want to learn to draw but don’t know where to start Why Fresco? It's a simple and intuitive painting app and because of its access to so many pre existing Photoshop brushes makes it incredibly powerful too. The Final project takes all the skills we've used up to this point and put them all together in one final complex illustration. The third project uses the oil brushes to blend paint and then layer masks to do some hand lettering and effects over it.
